Many airports require drone pilots to have special FAA authorization in order to fly near them. The airports in Phoenix, Tucson and Mesa are a few that will have this requirement. Occasionally temporary flight restrictions or "TFRs" will be issued. These will restrict drone use and are usually put in place during large sporting events or because of presidential travel. This is why it's important to check with planning tools and verify airspace requirements every time before flying. Unfortunately the BFUFLY app is notoriously unreliable. Drone Law in Arizona
It is illegal to fly a drone for profit unless the operator passes what is commonly called the part 107 test. It's extremely difficult to understand all drone laws and ordinances as there is no central database. This is why you must do research before each and every flight. Arizona passed a law that prohibits flying drones near critical facilities and also limits the abilities of towns and cities to set their own laws.
